A significant healthcare fraud has been exposed in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, where three alleged doctors working at “Sanjeevani Clinics” under the National Health Mission have been arrested by the police. The individuals were operating with fake MBBS degrees and fraudulent Medical Council registrations, as per police reports on Sunday.
Authorities revealed that the accused had been masquerading as doctors and treating patients at government health centers for almost a year. This revelation has caused a stir in both the Health Department and the administrative setup. Investigations suggest a broader network involving forged degrees and deceitful appointments beyond just these three individuals.
The Kotwali police received a report on May 16 from the Chief Medical and Health Officer’s office, detailing the submission of forged MBBS degrees and Medical Council registration certificates by two individuals, leading to legal action against them. The accused had been providing healthcare services under the guise of doctors for a considerable period, endangering the health and safety of unsuspecting patients.
The police have apprehended all three accused individuals and are probing into the origins of the forged documents. This case is particularly grave as it involves Sanjeevani Clinics, which play a direct role in delivering medical care to the public. Legal action has been initiated against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
