Director Dominic Arun’s hit Malayalam movie ‘Lokah – Chapter 1 – Chandra’, starring actress Kalyani Priyadarshan, has been chosen for the esteemed BIFAN (Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival) 2026. The film has also secured a spot at the 23rd Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2026, as announced by its creators. Wayfarer Films, owned by actor Dulquer Salmaan, expressed excitement over the selections on their social media platform.
The film, known as Malayalam cinema’s first female superhero movie, achieved significant commercial success, grossing over Rs 300 crore worldwide. It garnered praise from critics and audiences alike, with actress Kalyani Priyadarshan expressing gratitude towards the viewers and the film crew.
Kalyani Priyadarshan, in a heartfelt Instagram post when the film crossed the Rs 200 crore mark, acknowledged the audience’s support and emphasized the importance of content in the industry. She also lauded director Dominic Arun for his vision and dedication, along with the entire cast and crew for their contributions to the film’s success.
The movie, part of a superhero series, was produced by Wayfarer Films, with Dominic Arun at the helm as writer and director. The cinematography was handled by Nimish Ravi, editing by Chaman Chakko, and music composed by Jakes Bejoy. Renowned choreographer Yannick Ben orchestrated the action sequences, while Santhy Balachandran contributed to the screenplay and dramaturgy, and Jithu Sebastian oversaw art direction.
