West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee affirmed that her party, Trinamool Congress, will persist in a legal and street-level political fight following the Enforcement Directorate’s recent raids on the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) office and co-founder’s residence. Leading a protest rally in south Kolkata, Banerjee emphasized the party’s stance against alleged voter list manipulations and rights denial in the state.
Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of seizing power through illegitimate means in various states, including West Bengal. She hinted at undisclosed information regarding BJP leaders and unaccounted finances, warning of potential revelations that could escalate internationally if needed. Additionally, she criticized the BJP for spreading misinformation about Rohingya infiltrators in the state’s voter rolls.
The Chief Minister highlighted the BJP’s alleged attempts to remove legitimate voters from the list under the guise of the Special Intensive Revision, refuting claims of illegal Rohingya presence. She stressed the importance of street protests as a means to address these issues and vowed to continue the movement against perceived injustices.
