Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee declared her determination to remove the BJP from power in West Bengal, accusing the BJP’s central leadership of attempting to weaken her party. She asserted her resolve to thwart any such efforts during a sit-in protest in Kolkata.
Banerjee’s statement came in her first public appearance following the defeat of the Trinamool Congress in the recent state elections, ending her 15-year tenure as Chief Minister. The event was attended by a limited number of TMC MPs and legislators.
Among the attendees were key TMC figures, including Chief Whip Kalyan Banerjee, MPs Mala Roy, Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, and Samirul Islam, as well as legislators Firhad Hakim, Biman Bandopadhyay, Nayna Bandopadhyay, Madan Mitra, Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, and Ashok Deb.
Currently holding 80 seats in the 294-member West Bengal assembly, the TMC also addressed the recent expulsion of two members. Banerjee criticized private hospitals for allegedly refusing admission to her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, following an assault, highlighting challenges faced during the incident.
