In a disturbing incident in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, a man reportedly killed his girlfriend, dismembered her body, stored some parts in his apartment’s fridge, and burned her head. The accused, Chintada Ravindra, an employee in the Navy, allegedly committed the crime while his wife was away. The gruesome act occurred in the LV Nagar area of the city.
Ravindra, who had invited his girlfriend, Mounika, to his flat on Sunday, is said to have brutally murdered her and then dismembered her body. He stored parts of her torso in the fridge at his residence and set fire to her head and phone in an isolated location at Dharapalem on the city outskirts.
Following the incident, Ravindra surrendered at the local police station, leading to the recovery of body parts from his apartment. Originally from Rajam in Vizianagaram district, Ravindra, a Navy technician, was residing with his wife in an apartment in Visakhapatnam’s LV Nagar area.
Ravindra’s wife had been away at her parents’ house in Vizianagaram for about a month. The accused had a relationship with Mounika, a Visakhapatnam resident. On the day of the incident, after a heated argument, Ravindra fatally stabbed Mounika at his apartment. Subsequently, he dismembered her body, cleaned the flat to remove bloodstains, and used room freshener to mask any odors.
Later, Ravindra confessed to a friend about the crime he had committed. Upon being cautioned about the repercussions, he voluntarily surrendered at the Gajuwaka Police Station. He informed the police that Mounika had been pressuring him for money, leading him to devise the plan to eliminate her.
Investigations revealed that Ravindra had connected with Mounika through a dating app during the lockdown. He disclosed that he had paid Rs 3.50 lakh to her and alleged that she had taken his employee identity card to extort money from him. To continue his duties, he had created a duplicate card.
