Mumbai’s Samta Nagar Police apprehended a man with brown heroin near a public toilet in Kandivali East. The seized drugs are valued at around Rs 10 lakh in the illegal market. The arrested individual, identified as Vicky Vidhakar Padmukh, resides in Kandivali East and faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police officials reported that the arrest occurred during a routine patrol in the Lokhandwala Complex area. Observing a man acting suspiciously near a public toilet, the officers intervened when he tried to escape. Following a chase, the police detained him and discovered the brown heroin in his possession.
The investigation by Samta Nagar Police is ongoing to trace the drug’s source and intended recipients, suspecting a wider network involvement. In a separate incident on April 15, Uran Police seized heroin worth Rs 2.52 lakh and arrested three individuals in Jasai, Uran. The operation was prompted by reports of drug consumption behind the Sheetal Parivahan parking lot.
During the raid, 85 packets of heroin weighing 6.32 grams were found on Ganesh Vinay Patil, with the seized drugs valued at Rs 2,52,800 internationally. The police emphasized that the crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse is part of a broader effort following community complaints. Concerns were raised about the increasing drug use among students, warning of health risks and crime escalation due to addiction.
