A 44-year-old man from Montenegro was arrested at Sydney Airport for allegedly making a bomb threat on a Turkish Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur. The man reportedly claimed to have a bomb after being questioned about electrical equipment during pre-flight preparations. The aircraft returned to the gate, and the man was removed by police.
The man has been charged with threatening aviation security, which could result in a fine of up to 10,500 Australian dollars. Authorities revealed that the device in question was actually a wireless phone charger. The Australian Federal Police emphasized the serious disruptions and resource diversions caused by such hoaxes.
In a separate incident, Australian authorities seized 2.7 tonnes of cocaine from a property near Sydney, marking the largest drug seizure in the country’s history. The cocaine, with an estimated street value of 816 million Australian dollars, was found in plastic crates hidden in underground bunkers. Two men, aged 21 and 25, were arrested and charged with possessing the illegal drug.
