Tension arose in Jharkhand’s Chatra district when a man lost his life in a collision with a coal-laden heavy vehicle on the Tandwa-Piparwar main road. The victim, identified as Uresh Lohar, died on the spot near Karo village. Villagers are protesting, seeking compensation and better road safety measures, holding the body at the site for nearly 30 hours.
Locals are upset over the lack of control on heavy vehicles involved in coal transportation, resulting in frequent accidents. They are demanding a Rs 20 lakh compensation for the victim’s family, an alternative route, strict regulations on heavy vehicle entry, and prevention of overloading. Representative Dilip Kumar Ambasht has engaged in talks with the villagers, promising to address their concerns with the authorities.
The road blockade has caused traffic congestion, inconveniencing commuters during the wedding season. Villagers insist on continuing the protest until their requests are addressed. As of now, no concrete steps have been taken by the administration to resolve the situation, leaving tensions high in the area.
