Former Union minister and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi, along with her team, met with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to talk about street dog and cow welfare issues. Officials briefed Maneka Gandhi on the state’s efforts for street dog management and cow protection within municipal limits. They shared details on street dog sterilization through a PowerPoint presentation.
The Chief Minister mentioned existing plans for cow protection in the state, including the construction of a Goshala at N.K. Palli with modern facilities. Plans for more Goshalas near temples in different regions have also been finalized. Maneka Gandhi expressed satisfaction with the government’s animal welfare initiatives and praised their efforts.
During the meeting, Minister for industries and information technology Sridhar Babu, along with other officials, were present. Maneka Gandhi, the chief patron of Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GHSPCA), recently launched a new animal ambulance and donation scheme. She inspected the construction progress of a multi-speciality animal hospital and shelter at Begum Bazaar, expressing optimism about its future.
