Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India has initiated various schemes to realize the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. Singh noted that incorporating biofertilisers in agriculture would play a significant role in fostering sustainable farming practices, contributing to a healthier India. He also cautioned against the excessive use of chemical fertilisers, citing their detrimental effects on human health, soil fertility, and agricultural productivity in the long term.
Singh praised Sikkim for being India’s first fully organic state since 2016 and highlighted Manipur’s progress in organic farming, with 400 hectares of land already under organic cultivation. He announced plans to expand organic farming to another 400 hectares, with the state Agriculture Department actively working towards this goal. The Chief Minister encouraged the effective utilization of bioreactor units to ensure the widespread distribution of biofertilisers to farmers and consumers across Manipur.
