Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh announced the government’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services in both Imphal Valley and hill regions. Thirteen Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) were inaugurated to extend healthcare to remote hill districts, ensuring vital medical services reach underserved areas. These MMUs aim to bolster healthcare in the hills, reflecting the government’s commitment to public health improvement and healthcare accessibility.
The Mobile Medical Units, launched under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA), target tribal and vulnerable populations. Offering a wide array of services, including consultations, basic diagnostics, medicine distribution, and maternal and child healthcare, the MMUs will also screen for non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, they will provide oral healthcare, health education programs, and referral services for specialized treatments.
The launch event witnessed the presence of key officials such as Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Sumant Singh, Director of Health Services Dr. N. Hemantakumar Singh, and State Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Manipur, Dr. M. Dinesh Singh. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare services for all citizens, promoting a healthier and disease-free Manipur.
