Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla commended non-governmental organizations for their work in enhancing education, social development, and communal unity in the remote and border regions of the state. He virtually inaugurated the new school building of Pou Shankar Kane Vidyalaya in Tamenglong district, supported financially by the North Eastern Council under the Union Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region.
Established in 2009 by Mumbai-based Purva Seema Vikas Pratishthan, Pou Shankar Kane Vidyalaya has been actively contributing to educational initiatives in Manipur. Governor Bhalla, while addressing students and dignitaries virtually, expressed his joy at the event, acknowledging the adverse weather conditions that prevented his physical presence but sending his best wishes to all attendees.
The Governor praised Purva Seema Vikas Pratishthan for its commitment to advancing education, social development, and harmony in Manipur’s remote areas. He highlighted the school’s journey from a basic tin-roof structure to a modern permanent building, attributing this progress to perseverance and collective efforts. Additionally, he thanked the North Eastern Council in Shillong for its support in realizing the vision of improved infrastructure.
A delegation of senior citizens from Uripok met with the Governor at Lok Bhavan in Imphal, presenting a memorandum on various state issues. The Governor assured the delegation that their concerns would be duly considered, following a brief and friendly discussion on the matters raised.
