Ace Bollywood designer Manish Malhotra recently highlighted the enduring popularity of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s costumes from the movie “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” even 25 years after its release. He credited the film’s ‘Bole Chudiyan’ song for popularizing Indian wedding sangeet ceremonies where families dress up and dance together. The 2001 blockbuster, directed by Karan Johar, featured a stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Manish Malhotra shared on social media how the outfits designed for Kareena Kapoor Khan have become a part of pop culture even today. He also showcased pictures of Kajol’s daughter Nysa Devgn dressed in his designed lehenga, symbolizing the timeless nature of his creations. The movie’s grand sets, opulent visuals, and stunning costumes, especially Kareena’s portrayal of the stylish and glamorous Poo, are still remembered fondly for their iconic status in Indian cinema.
Reflecting on his 35-year career in the industry, Manish Malhotra transitioned into film production in 2025 with his production house, Stage5 Production. His debut film as a producer, ‘Gustaakh Ishq,’ starring Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Naseeruddin Shah, received positive reviews from critics despite a lukewarm response at the box office.
