Meghalaya’s Chief Electoral Officer, B.D.R. Tiwari, stated that the Special Intensive Revision exercise is advancing smoothly across all 12 districts of the state. He encouraged eligible voters to actively take part in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the electoral rolls to ensure the enrollment of every eligible citizen.
The revision process in Meghalaya has been steadily moving forward with the cooperation of electors and the election machinery. As of July 14, a total of 19,91,883 Enumeration Forms had been distributed out of 23,49,645 registered electors, achieving an overall coverage of 84.77 percent. Additionally, 5,64,610 Enumeration Forms had been digitized, accounting for 24.03 percent of the state’s total electorate.
Efforts to enhance public participation included an awareness and interaction program on the Special Intensive Revision held with members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in hybrid mode at the MLA Hostel Conference Hall in Shillong on July 13. During the program, the objectives, significance, timelines, and procedures of the revision exercise were explained, urging legislators to raise awareness among voters and encourage active participation.
Meghalaya’s Chief Electoral Officer highlighted the importance of an accurate and updated electoral roll for democracy’s strength and the conduct of free, fair, and participative elections. He commended the election machinery’s efforts and the dedication of various election officials for ensuring the smooth implementation of the Special Intensive Revision across the state.
