Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma highlighted the state’s shift towards sustainable economic partnerships, emphasizing the success of local products like pineapples and Lakadong turmeric in global markets. The government, in collaboration with FIEO and the Ministry of Commerce, launched the Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet 2026 to boost Meghalaya’s export potential. This initiative, supported by the World Bank, aims to connect local producers with international buyers to enhance the state’s export ecosystem.
The launch of the ‘MeghaRise’ brand and logo during the event signifies a unified identity for Meghalaya’s MSME and export sector. Additionally, a state-level MSME portal was introduced to streamline business processes, improve access to government schemes, and digitally link entrepreneurs to global markets. Chief Minister Sangma emphasized the importance of fostering long-term economic ties over mere transactional relationships, showcasing the successful transformation of indigenous products into high-value exports.
RBSM 2026, a platform for business-to-business interactions, enables Meghalaya exporters to engage directly with international buyers, expand into new markets, and establish sustainable trade connections. The event, attended by buyers from 15 countries, features over 300 MSME sellers showcasing a diverse range of products, including handloom items, bamboo products, spices, and wellness goods. Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar hailed RBSM 2026 as a significant step for Meghalaya and the Northeast, highlighting the state’s confidence in its export capabilities and readiness to engage globally.
