Mexico secured a 3-0 victory over Czechia in the FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage at Mexico City Stadium. Mateo Chavez, Julian Quinones, and Alvaro Fidalgo scored the goals for the co-hosts. This win marked Mexico’s first time winning all three group-stage matches at the World Cup.

Czechia, needing a positive result to advance, fell short as Mexico dominated the game. Chavez opened the scoring early on, followed by Quinones doubling the lead. Mexico’s strong performance was highlighted by their solid defense, keeping clean sheets in all group-stage games for the first time since 1970.

In a historic moment, goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa made his 153rd Mexico cap appearance during the match. The victory sealed a memorable night for Mexico, with Fidalgo adding a final goal in stoppage time. Mexico’s coach emphasized the team’s focus on taking each game step by step and maintaining a humble and hard-working attitude.
