In Bihar’s Purnea district, a mini gun factory operating covertly for two months was uncovered in a significant crackdown. The illegal unit, located 20 feet underground, was discovered during a joint operation by the Special Task Forces (STF) of Kolkata and Patna.

The raid, carried out in Haripur village under the Dhamdaha police station area, followed specific intelligence input. Four individuals, including two from Munger – Md Aftab Alam and Md Anwar, and local residents Mitthu Kumar and Gabbar Mandal, were arrested at the site.

Police seized 10 semi-finished pistols, 14 iron plates, a lathe machine, a cutter machine, and other equipment used in the illicit manufacturing process during the operation. The factory, camouflaged as a patris (leaf plates) workshop, had been active for nearly two months to avoid suspicion.

Senior officials, including Dhamdaha range Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sandeep Goldy and Station House Officer Ravishankar Kumar, oversaw the operation. The alleged mastermind, Suraj Kumar from Munger, is suspected of coordinating the supply of illegal firearms to various districts.
