Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, unveiled the Srinagar Khel Sankalp document during the three-day Chintan Shivir in Srinagar. The document aims to enhance the sports culture nationally through cooperative federalism, focusing on athlete-centric growth, sports infrastructure expansion, talent identification, and regional sports clusters.
The Srinagar Khel Sankalp signifies a joint commitment of the Centre, States, and Union Territories to prioritize sports in nation-building efforts. It underlines the significance of sports in promoting social unity, empowering youth, and fostering a healthier generation. The approach emphasizes collaboration between governments and sports bodies to create a supportive environment for athletes nationwide.
Furthermore, the document stresses the utilization of India’s diversity as a strength, advocating for the development of sports infrastructure and talent identification tailored to each region’s unique characteristics. The final day of the Chintan Shivir commenced with the Fit India “Sundays on Cycle” Cyclothon, promoting fitness and mass participation. Discussions during the event covered topics such as Sports Governance, Sports Goods Manufacturing, and Youth Engagement through MY Bharat, focusing on enhancing institutional frameworks, transparency, and coordination among stakeholders in sports administration.
The event emphasized the need for a unified approach involving the Centre, States, and all stakeholders to build a robust and inclusive youth and sports ecosystem in India. The Chintan Shivir served as a vital platform for dialogue, alignment, and collective action towards this goal.
