The Ministry of Civil Aviation has assured Parliament that the investigation into the Air India Boeing Dreamliner crash at Ahmedabad airport is proceeding without delays. The ministry stated that the inquiry is advancing according to established procedures, emphasizing that the timeline for completing such investigations cannot be accurately estimated due to the complexity of factors involved.
According to the ministry, the ongoing investigation into the aviation accident encompasses a thorough examination of all potential causes and contributing factors leading to the tragic event. The inspection of the complete Thrust Control Module at the original equipment manufacturer’s facility is currently underway as part of the investigative process.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Civil Aviation highlighted that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is transparently conducting the probe into the Air India Boeing crash that occurred on June 12 last year. The ministry reiterated that all possible causes related to the accident are under scrutiny, with no definitive conclusions reached thus far.
The preliminary investigation report, released by the AAIB on July 12, 2025, revealed critical details about the incident, including the loss of thrust in both engines of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The report indicated that the fuel cut-off switches were inadvertently moved to the ‘CUTOFF’ position, leading to the tragic crash. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu cautioned against premature conclusions, emphasizing the importance of awaiting the final investigation report.
