The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) cautioned the public about a fake social media account, @MEABharat, falsely claiming to represent the ministry. With over 19,000 followers, the dubious account was reposting content from government ministries, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and the President.
Recently, the MEA Fact Check team also highlighted individuals posing as ministry advisors on social media, offering misleading advice on policy matters and soliciting payment for consultations. The ministry emphasized that these individuals have no association with them and advised vigilance against such deceptive posts.
Moreover, the MEA’s Fact Check account raised concerns about fraudulent announcements and advertisements circulating online regarding the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. It urged caution to potential Yatris, emphasizing that kmy.gov.in is the sole authentic portal for the pilgrimage organized by the MEA.
