A ground assessment by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has brought joy to the villagers of Poonch, a border town near the Line of Control (LoC), as the need for bunker construction in border villages has been recognized. The bunkers are crucial for providing safety to the locals during military conflicts between India and Pakistan. The Home Ministry has requested information from District Development Commissioners (DDCs) in Jammu and Kashmir to determine the necessity and quantity of bunkers. Villagers in Jalas and Salotri, situated near the LoC in Poonch district, are pleased that their demands have been acknowledged, and the process has commenced. They are hopeful that the construction of bunkers will start soon, ensuring the safety of their families. Residents expressed gratitude for the Home Ministry’s decision, emphasizing the importance of having bunkers for protection during wartime situations. They eagerly anticipate the construction of both private and community bunkers in the district to enhance their safety and security.
