A clash occurred between Trinamool Congress and BJP supporters outside a counting center in Biddhannagar, West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. The tension arose due to a dispute between the workers and supporters of the two parties, leading to slogans and counter-slogans being exchanged, escalating into a clash. Central forces intervened to control the situation, separating the workers and setting up barricades.
Security measures have been heightened around the strong room, with strict protocols in place at all other counting centers. The Election Commission announced repolling in all booths of the Falta Assembly constituency in South 24 Parganas district following severe electoral offenses during the second phase of voting. This decision excludes Falta from the counting of votes for the 293 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal.
In preparation for the counting of votes across 77 centers in West Bengal, the Election Commission has implemented enhanced security measures. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee instructed Trinamool Congress counting agents to request a recount in a booth where the BJP leads by 500 to 700 votes. She also advised them to stay overnight in lodges or hotels to ensure early arrival at the counting centers on Monday.
