Former New Zealand cricketer Mitchell McClenaghan has recommended that if fit, MS Dhoni should play as an impact substitute for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Dhoni, recovering from a calf injury, has been training but is yet to hit full form.
McClenaghan stated that Dhoni’s aggressive batting style could be beneficial for CSK, especially in chasing big scores. With Dhoni potentially missing his fifth consecutive game, his presence as an impact player could strengthen CSK’s lower middle order.
Despite missing the first four games, Dhoni might sit out the fifth match as well. McClenaghan emphasized that Dhoni could come in, hit boundaries, and contribute to finishing the innings in style, without the need for extensive running.
After a series of losses, CSK secured their first victory against Delhi Capitals, with standout performances from Sanju Samson (115*) and Jamie Overton (4-18).
