Australia’s Mitchell Starc has been given the green light by Cricket Australia to resume playing and is all set to join Delhi Capitals in India for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Starc, recovering from elbow and shoulder injuries sustained earlier, is expected to gradually increase his bowling workload upon joining DC. He is anticipated to make his debut in Delhi’s match against Rajasthan Royals on May 1, having missed the initial games of the tournament.
The injury woes for Starc followed a demanding period of cricket for Australia, where he played a significant role in their Ashes victory and later featured in the Big Bash League for Sydney Sixers. Delhi Capitals, currently positioned fifth on the points table with a 3-3 record, are hopeful that Starc’s addition will strengthen their bowling attack, which has been led by Lungi Ngidi with seven wickets in six matches. Starc had previously responded to criticism regarding his delayed arrival with a firm social media post, expressing his dedication to the franchise.
Fellow Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins is also gearing up to make his first appearance of the season and resume captaincy for SRH this weekend. Cummins, who was managing a back stress issue, has been cleared for action following positive scan results and is expected to feature in Hyderabad’s upcoming match against Rajasthan.
