Mizoram Rural Bank (MRB) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the Rs 10,000 crore total business mark for the first time. During the 2025-26 financial year, the bank reached Rs 10,656.08 crore, marking an 11.26% year-on-year growth, the highest among all Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) in the Northeast.
With 28 RRBs operating nationwide, MRB emerged as the fastest-growing RRB in the northeastern region in the previous financial year. The bank’s Net Profit stood at Rs 152.27 crore, the second highest among North East RRBs, and it became one of the first four RRBs in India to achieve Business per Branch (BpB) exceeding Rs 100 crore.
Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) unveiled the 43rd Annual Report Book of Mizoram Rural Bank for the Financial Year 2025-26 at Lok Bhavan. The report highlighted that digital financial transactions constituted 97.36% of total transactions, the highest among North East RRBs and second highest among all RRBs in the country.
According to the 43rd Annual Report, MRB maintained its position as the largest lender in Mizoram, with an advances portfolio of Rs 4,129.98 crore and the second-largest bank in terms of deposits at Rs 6,526.10 crore. The bank also leads in financing priority and weaker sections, with notable market shares in various schemes such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs), NRLM, NULM, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), MUDRA, and PMEGP.
Mizoram Rural Bank was praised by the Governor for its achievements but was encouraged to strive for greater dedication and enhanced results in the future. Emphasizing the bank’s crucial role in rural finance and the state’s economy, the Governor urged MRB to effectively implement central government schemes for public welfare.
