MLAs from both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress praised the ongoing two-day orientation programme for newly elected members of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. The programme is seen as crucial in helping legislators grasp parliamentary procedures, legislative duties, and Assembly decorum. BJP MLA Bhaskar Bhattacharya highlighted the significance of equipping legislators with the necessary skills to operate effectively within the Assembly.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP MLA Rajesh Kumar expressed that such a program had been eagerly anticipated by legislators for a long time. He emphasized the importance of learning how to contribute effectively as responsible legislators in the Assembly proceedings. First-time BJP MLA Deepanjan Guha also commended the initiative, emphasizing the continuous need for learning and growth among legislators.
During the orientation sessions, BJP MLA Laxmikant Sahu appreciated the valuable insights shared by the Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He mentioned that the experience and knowledge gained from such interactions would be instrumental in serving as effective public representatives in their constituencies. TMC MLA Md. Akhruzzaman lauded the program for shedding light on the rights and duties of legislators, providing informative sessions for MLAs.
Furthermore, BJP MLA Roopa Ganguly advocated for the installation of a statue of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee in West Bengal, recognizing his significant contributions to the state.
