Celebrating the 40-day milestone of his hit movie ‘Drishyam 3’, Malayalam star Mohanlal praised the beloved series as a lasting legacy built on trust. The film has crossed the Rs 330 crore mark, resonating not only in Kerala but nationwide. Mohanlal had shared the achievement on June 14, highlighting the movie’s global success and thanking fans for their support.
The third installment of ‘Drishyam’, initially slated for April 2, faced a delay due to prevailing circumstances, hitting screens on May 21 instead. Mohanlal wrapped up his scenes for the film in December last year, commemorating the occasion with a viral cake-cutting video.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, ‘Drishyam 3’ delves into the next chapter of Georgekutty’s life, portrayed by Mohanlal. Producer Antony Perumbavoor emphasized the decision to continue the series after the overwhelming response to the first two films. The movie, shot in various locations including Thodupuzha and Vagamon, culminated in a final schedule in Ernakulam.
Known for their compelling narratives and Mohanlal’s stellar acting, the ‘Drishyam’ films have garnered a dedicated following in Indian cinema. The original film, released in 2013, set new standards in Malayalam cinema, while its sequel in 2021 enjoyed immense success both in theaters and on streaming platforms.
