Defending champions Mohun Bagan Super began the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Kerala Blasters FC. The match, held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharathi Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata, saw goals from Jamie Maclaren in the first half and Tom Aldred in injury time of the second half, securing three points for Mohun Bagan.

Mohun Bagan SG head coach Sergio Lobera fielded a strong lineup featuring familiar faces like Dimi Petratos, Jamie Maclaren, and Alberto Rodriguez. New signings Mehtab Singh, Robson Da Silva, and Amey Ranawade also made appearances in the match.

In contrast, Kerala Blasters FC, under coach David Català, introduced a young lineup for their first ISL match, including foreign signings Oumar Ba and Victor Bertomeu. The midfield saw the debut of Yebindas and Rowllin Borges.

Throughout the game, Mohun Bagan maintained better possession, with players like Anirudh Thapa and Lalengmawia Ralte controlling the midfield. Despite their dominance, breaking down Kerala Blasters’ defense proved challenging. Jamie Maclaren’s goal after the water break, assisted by Petratos, gave Mohun Bagan the lead in the first half.

The second half witnessed changes from both sides, with Kerala Blasters showing strength towards the end. However, Mohun Bagan’s Tom Aldred sealed the victory with a header in injury time. The match concluded with Mohun Bagan securing a 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters FC.
