Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio conducted a high-level meeting to assess the flood situation in the state, involving officials and the State Disaster Management Authority, due to heavy monsoon rains disrupting daily life. In neighboring Arunachal Pradesh, five districts were inundated by fresh flooding caused by continuous rainfall in the past 24 hours, affecting about 1.50 lakh people.

In Nagaland’s Mon district, the death toll from flash floods and landslides climbed to nine, with five bodies recovered and four individuals still missing. Emergency teams are actively engaged in search and rescue operations to address the aftermath of landslides, flash floods, and waterlogging triggered by incessant rainfall across the hilly state.

The Nagaland government released Rs 70 lakh as ex-gratia to the families of the deceased, along with relief assistance for the injured and housing damage under the State Disaster Response Fund. Chief Minister Rio, during his visit to Mon district, extended financial aid to civil societies, the district hospital, and local volunteers supporting rescue operations.

The extreme weather conditions in Nagaland have resulted in nine fatalities, numerous injuries, and extensive damage to residential buildings, roads, bridges, and public infrastructure in Mon district. The Deputy Commissioner expressed condolences to the affected families and affirmed the District Administration’s support during this challenging time.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the ongoing floods and landslides have led to seven fatalities, 29 injuries, and two missing persons, affecting nearly 1.50 lakh individuals in 600 villages across 27 districts. The severely impacted districts include Siang, Papum Pare, West Kameng, Kamle, and Lower Siang.
