Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio revealed that Nagaland’s coffee is now being exported to the United Arab Emirates, with increasing demand from Bahrain, various European countries, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan. Additionally, pineapple and processed ‘king chilli’ are finding their way to international markets. The state government is actively promoting enterprise development in agriculture and allied sectors, leading Nagaland to secure the third position among small states in the Export Preparedness Index 2024.
A significant number of enterprises, totaling 48,655, have been registered on the Udyam portal in Nagaland as of March 9, 2026. Among these, the majority, 48,464, are micro enterprises, with a large portion falling under nano enterprises with turnovers below Rs 25 lakh. Furthermore, there are 175 small enterprises and 16 medium enterprises in the state.
Under the Chief Minister’s Microfinance Initiative (CMMFI), 777 MSME units have been established, attracting investments exceeding Rs 65 crore through government subsidy support and credit linkages. These units, primarily engaged in transport services, retail trade, hospitality, and small manufacturing, are anticipated to create more than 1,500 direct employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister disclosed that there are currently 13 MSME development projects in progress, with an additional 15 projects awaiting approval from the Union Ministry of MSME. These projects aim to enhance industrial infrastructure and foster cluster-based development in Nagaland. Efforts are underway to bolster competitiveness through capacity building, registration drives, and buyer-seller meets under the RAMP initiative.
