Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along expressed strong disapproval of the reported racial assault on a Tripura student in Dehradun. The victim, Angel Chakma, was involved in an altercation with Suraj Khawas and his friends at a market on December 9, resulting in a fatal attack where Angel succumbed to his injuries on December 26.
Temjen Imna Along condemned the incident, emphasizing the unity of North Eastern states with India and denouncing the use of racial slurs. He highlighted the ignorance and prejudice reflected in such acts, asserting the distinct Indian identity of the North-Eastern populace.
Police efforts have led to the arrest of five out of six suspects involved in the assault, with one absconding individual from Nepal. The authorities have intensified their search for the remaining accused, offering a reward for information leading to his capture.
The accused individuals face charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to bodily harm, criminal intimidation, and murder. The tragic incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for unity and respect among diverse Indian communities.
