A delegation from the National Defence College in New Delhi, led by Anvita Sinha, commenced a geo-strategic tour of Nigeria. The delegation, consisting of 14 senior officers, including international participants from Egypt, Morocco, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan, visited the High Commission of India in Nigeria for a courtesy visit. The High Commissioner, Abhishek Singh, provided insights on the India-Nigeria partnership and discussed key regional and global developments.
The delegation is set to engage with senior leadership in Nigeria’s civil and military sectors. They also visited the Ministry of Defence in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, where they were briefed on Nigeria’s Defence Policy, its challenges, and future direction. Additionally, the delegation met with Richard P. Pheelangwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, to explore areas of collaboration and enhance defence cooperation between India and Nigeria.
A previous delegation from the Naval War College, led by Deputy Commandant Commodore AO Obisesan, had visited the High Commission of India in Abuja for an International Study Tour to India. The High Commissioner emphasized the longstanding defence cooperation between India and Nigeria and the significance of such exchanges in strengthening bilateral defence ties. The focus was on sharing best practices in the maritime domain and enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
