The death of national para-athlete Chirag Tyagi has shocked the sporting community and residents of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. His body was found under suspicious circumstances in Sai Upvan, located in the Kotwali police station area of the city. Police are investigating the exact cause of his death after recovering the body on Saturday evening.
Tyagi, who had left his hostel in Delhi for his native village in Ghaziabad, was discovered dead in Sai Upvan. Authorities received information about the incident, prompting a swift response from local police and forensic experts to gather evidence. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhaval Jaiswal stated that the case appears to be a murder, with preliminary examinations revealing an injury resembling a puncture wound on Tyagi’s back.
Investigators are working to determine the nature of the injuries and the exact cause of Tyagi’s death. The para-athlete’s untimely demise has raised concerns among athletes and sports administrators, given his promising talent in para-athletics. Tyagi, who recently won a gold medal in a national-level competition in Bengaluru, was preparing for the Asian Para Games in Japan in October.
