The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has announced extensive plans for its 75th anniversary celebrations at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. The event kicked off with a cake-cutting ceremony attended by key figures like Pawankumar Singh, Secretary General of NRAI, and various esteemed shooters and coaches.
Pawankumar Singh highlighted the historical significance of NRAI’s founding in 1951 by notable figures like G.V. Mavalankar. The association aims to introduce 7.5 lakh new school students to shooting as part of its year-long celebrations, with a focus on unearthing new talent and honoring past achievers.
The celebrations will include felicitations for Arjuna, Khel Ratna, Dronacharya awardees, and Olympic medalists in Shooting. Additionally, an exhibition match featuring past and present Olympic medalists is planned during the ISSF World Cup Olympic quota event in Delhi next year. India’s success in shooting, including Abhinav Bindra’s historic gold in 2008 and recent medals in Paris 2024, underscores the sport’s importance on the global stage.
