The district administration in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district has taken action against Anil Malviya, the owner of a firecracker manufacturing unit in Tonkkala village, where an explosion resulted in three deaths and over 15 injuries. Malviya has been arrested, and the factory has been sealed post the incident.
District Collector Rituraj Singh stated that the decision was based on a police report highlighting serious violations in the unit’s operations, including alleged misuse of the manufacturing license and safety regulation breaches. The invocation of the National Security Act follows these findings.
Authorities are also preparing cases against four individuals, including three contractors linked to the factory, to investigate any negligence in handling explosive materials or safety standard violations that may have led to the blast. Additionally, a magisterial inquiry has been ordered to determine the explosion’s cause and assess safety compliance.
Ujjain Divisional Commissioner Ashish Singh has appointed inquiry officers to submit a report within a week, focusing on the explosion’s cause, adherence to safety regulations, and factory operation licenses. The administration will further assess safety protocols at similar firecracker manufacturing units in the district.
Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda visited the blast site, inspected relief efforts, and met with injured workers at local hospitals, assuring support to affected families. He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing necessary assistance and medical care while ensuring accountability for any negligence uncovered during the investigation.
