The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has witnessed a decline in its market share in the equity options (premium value) segment over the past three financial years. Data from the exchange’s annual reports and Red Herring Prospectus (RHP) revealed a decrease from 96.9% in FY24 to 74.71% in FY26, marking a 22.2% drop.

Despite this decline, NSE continues to hold a strong position in other key segments. In the equity cash segment, its market share ranged from 92.7% in FY24 to 92.99% in FY26. Similarly, in the equity futures segment, NSE’s market share was at 99.9% in FY24 and FY25, slightly easing to 99.79% in FY26.

The data also indicated a decrease in operational performance leading up to NSE’s proposed initial public offering (IPO). Total revenue from operations fell to Rs 16,601.30 crore in FY26 from Rs 17,140.67 crore in FY25, with transaction charges and revenue from clearing and settlement services experiencing declines as well.
