Emphasizing the pivotal role of youth in shaping tribal communities’ future, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) Chairman Antar Singh Arya encouraged tribal youth to actively participate in nation-building efforts. Arya, speaking at the “Chakma Yuva Samvad: Empowering Tribal Youth and Celebration of Bizu Festival” in Delhi, stressed the need for enhanced focus on education, skill development, and employment opportunities for tribal youth.

Highlighting the importance of leveraging emerging prospects for growth and development, Arya elaborated on the Union Ministry’s initiatives aimed at safeguarding the rights and promoting the welfare of Scheduled Tribes nationwide. The event, organized by Policy Samvad in collaboration with the Delhi Chakma Student Union (DCSU), brought together policymakers, community leaders, and young representatives to discuss tribal empowerment, education, and cultural preservation.

NCST member Nirupama Chakma, present as the guest of honor, emphasized the Chakma community’s rich cultural heritage and the significance of preserving indigenous identity while embracing modern development pathways. The event also featured High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Mahishini Colonne, who highlighted the broader cultural and regional importance of the Chakma community.
