NDA candidate Padmaja Venugopal from Kerala’s Thrissur Assembly seat has criticized the Congress party, citing internal sabotage, weak leadership, and a growing disconnect with the public. Venugopal, a former Congress leader and daughter of late Chief Minister K. Karunakaran, recently joined the BJP in March 2024.
In an interview, Venugopal explained her departure from the Congress, expressing dissatisfaction with the party’s internal dynamics. She highlighted a specific individual within the party who she felt hindered her progress and shared her concerns about the lack of support she received despite holding a significant position.
Venugopal expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in Thrissur, noting the local popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also addressed allegations of ticket selling within the Congress and questioned the leadership abilities of Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing a perceived lack of effective leadership within the party.
