The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party meeting ‘Mangal Milan’ started at the Parliament Library Building in New Delhi. This meeting follows the introduction of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha. Notably, former Trinamool Congress rebels, now NCPI MPs, are participating for the first time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Ministers and other NDA MPs, gathered at the G.M.C. Balayogi Auditorium for the meeting. Among the attendees are NCPI MPs Kakoli Ghosh, Shatabdi Roy, and Saayoni Ghosh, who were previously part of the Trinamool Congress. The discussions come at a crucial time as the government pushes the anti-cheating Bill while facing Opposition criticism over alleged ‘police brutality’ against student protesters at Jantar Mantar.

The Bill amendment introduced by MoS Jitendra Singh aims to strengthen the examination system’s transparency and integrity with stricter legal provisions. Key features include severe penalties like up to 10 years of imprisonment, a fine of up to Rs 10 crore, and asset confiscation for the guilty, ensuring timely verdicts within three months. The ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting serves as a revamped NDA parliamentary party strategy session, fostering constructive debates, alliance alignment, and coordination with NDA constituents.
