New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal spearheaded the 33rd consecutive Sunday plantation drive at the Women’s Technical Institute (WTI), Netaji Nagar. This initiative is part of the ‘#EkPedMaaKeNaam OnSunday’ campaign aimed at promoting environmental conservation. Chahal emphasized the importance of citizen participation in fostering a greener future, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for environmental stewardship.

Under the ‘#EkPedMaaKeNaam_OnSunday’ campaign, which has completed 33 successful Sundays, Chahal highlighted the increasing awareness and involvement of citizens in environmental preservation efforts. Apart from weekly plantation drives, NDMC collaborates with universities, embassies, and various institutions to organize large-scale plantation programs. These collective endeavors, as acknowledged by Chahal, significantly contribute to enhancing New Delhi’s greenery, cleanliness, beauty, and sustainability.

Acknowledging the dedicated work of Team NDMC, Chahal stressed that planting saplings is just the beginning; ensuring their ongoing care, protection, and maintenance is equally vital and a shared responsibility. The event witnessed the participation of various dignitaries, including the Principal of the Women’s Technical Institute, faculty members, students, and senior officials from different departments of NDMC, who planted saplings in honor of their mothers.

Participants lauded the ‘#EkPedMaaKeNaam’ campaign, recognizing it as more than a mere plantation drive but a movement inspiring societal responsibility towards nature and motherhood. Chahal reiterated that the initiative symbolizes gratitude towards Mother Nature and lays the groundwork for a cleaner, greener, and more secure future. He also highlighted the importance of women’s skill development, technical education, and self-reliance in the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, emphasizing the need to upgrade the Women Technical Institute for these goals.

Following the plantation activities, Chahal conducted a thorough inspection of the NDMC Women Technical Institute at Netaji Nagar. During the visit, he assessed the institute’s infrastructure, facilities, and training resources, directing the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for its comprehensive modernization. Chahal instructed relevant departments to survey and propose upgrades for the campus, including modern training infrastructure, a herbal garden, cafeteria, and smart facilities.
