India’s renowned javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, who clinched two Olympic medals, concluded 2025 with cherished memories, expressing gratitude for the support during his marriage festivities. Neeraj, the first Indian athlete to secure an Olympic gold, together with his spouse Himani Mor Chopra, hosted a reception in New Delhi on December 26, attended by dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The couple tied the knot earlier in January this year.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Neeraj Chopra reflected on the year, thanking family and friends for their presence, blessings, and love during the celebrations. Despite facing fitness challenges, the 27-year-old athlete had a notable year, achieving a significant milestone by surpassing the 90-meter mark at the Doha Diamond League. However, he faced setbacks, relinquishing his World Championship title and finishing eighth overall.
Moreover, Neeraj secured victory in the Golden Spike Ostrava, claimed second place in the 2025 Diamond League final, maintaining his consistent top-two rankings since 2021 and podium finishes since 2020. Notably, he organized and triumphed in the NC Classic javelin throw competition held in Bengaluru. To enhance his performance, the star athlete enlisted the expertise of Jan Zelezny, a Czech javelin icon with three Olympic gold medals and a world record throw of 98.48 meters, as his new coach at the season’s onset.
Neeraj Chopra made history by clinching the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, marking a significant milestone as the first Indian athlete to achieve this feat. Subsequently, he secured a silver medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, alongside a silver and gold in the World Championships.
