Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah has added two new ministers to his Cabinet, filling vacant positions. Ramji Yadav is now the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, taking over from Dipak Kumar Sah. Gauri Kumari Yadav has been appointed as the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, a role previously held by the Prime Minister himself.
Ramji Yadav, elected from the Saptari–2 constituency, represents the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Parliament. Gauri Kumari Yadav, elected from Mahottari–4, also serves as an RSP lawmaker. Previously, both ministries were directly overseen by Prime Minister Shah. The new ministers are yet to be sworn in by President Ram Chandra Poudel.
Prime Minister Shah now heads a 16-member Cabinet, smaller in size compared to previous governments. The Cabinet was formed on March 27 after the RSP secured a significant majority in the House of Representatives. Shah’s rise to power as the Prime Ministerial candidate of the RSP, a new political force established in 2022, has been attributed to the party’s success in the elections.
Under Shah’s leadership, the government has initiated efforts to enhance governance, including investigations into alleged money laundering involving former Prime Ministers and businessmen linked to them. The actions taken by the Shah-led administration have garnered positive attention for their commitment to good governance.
