General Dhiraj Seth, the new Chief of Army Staff, expressed joy over his appointment, emphasizing his dedication to duty, honor, and the nation. He succeeded General Upendra Dwivedi, taking charge as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff. Gen Seth paid tribute to fallen soldiers and highlighted the Army’s readiness to embrace modern technologies.
In a warm gesture, Gen Seth saluted his father and was saluted by his brother after receiving a Guard of Honour. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Indian Army. Gen Seth outlined his priorities, focusing on vigilance, innovation, jointness, self-reliance, and the welfare of soldiers and veterans.
The new Army Chief stressed the importance of vigilance and readiness along the borders to counter emerging threats effectively. He emphasized the need for innovation in doctrine and technology to adapt to the evolving battlefield. Gen Seth highlighted the significance of jointness and integration with the Air Force and Navy for enhanced operational effectiveness.
‘Atmanirbharta’ or self-reliance is a key aspect of Gen Seth’s vision, aiming to leverage indigenous capabilities to build a self-reliant Army. He underscored the strength of soldiers as warriors and pledged to prioritize their training and technological advancement. Gen Seth also expressed gratitude to former Army Chiefs, acknowledging their contributions in shaping a strong and reliable Indian Army.
Gen Seth assured the nation of the Indian Army’s preparedness to safeguard sovereignty and national interests. He reiterated his commitment to the guiding principles of Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation, encapsulated in his acronym VIJAY. The Army Chief concluded with the belief that these principles would lead to success, echoing the sentiment of ‘JAI Se VIJAY. Jai Hind.’
