New Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola is prepared to lead the prestigious club, succeeding Arne Slot for the 2026-27 season. The 43-year-old Spaniard, previously successful at Bournemouth, achieved a historic sixth-place finish in the Premier League, securing European competition qualification for the first time in the club’s history.
Iraola, speaking after his appointment, acknowledged the high expectations associated with managing the former Premier League champions. He expressed his determination to work with top players and compete for titles, understanding the challenges ahead.
The experienced coach highlighted the unique atmosphere at Anfield, reminiscing about facing Liverpool as an opposition manager. Iraola emphasized the importance of building a strong connection with the Liverpool supporters early on, aiming to be an integral part of the club’s celebrations and embracing the passion of football.
Formerly a player with Athletic Club and the Spanish national team, Iraola transitioned to coaching in 2018 with AEK Larnaca, achieving success in Cyprus before moving on to manage Rayo Vallecano and later Bournemouth. His impressive work at Bournemouth led to European qualification following an exceptional unbeaten run last season.
