Noted academician Prof. Debabrata Das has assumed office as the new Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, filling a vacancy that lasted nearly a year. He was appointed by the Higher Education Department under the Union Ministry of Education on July 3, succeeding Prof. Shyamal Das.
Prof. Das expressed his commitment to maintaining and enhancing Tripura University’s academic standing and legacy. He pledged to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people of Tripura associated with the university, particularly in the realm of higher education. The new Vice-Chancellor highlighted plans to elevate teaching quality, learning standards, and research endeavors, with a focus on improving students’ employability.
Prof. Das emphasized the pivotal role of Tripura University in advancing higher education quality within the state. He outlined a vision to boost academic excellence, foster quality education, and bolster research activities as key priorities. The Vice-Chancellor also engaged with academic heads, deans, faculty members, and administrative staff to strategize the institution’s future development.
Prof. Debabrata Das, who previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management, brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience to his new role. He aims to leverage his expertise to enhance Tripura University’s national standing through continuous improvement in academic standards, research output, and innovation.
