Premier League club Newcastle has finalized the acquisition of French talent Aladji Bamba from Monaco. The 20-year-old midfielder has committed to a five-year contract at St. James’ Park. Aladji, a France Under-20 international and a nominee for the European Golden Boy award, becomes Newcastle’s fourth major signing this season.
“I’m very happy to be here – it’s a new challenge, and I can’t wait to get started,” Aladji expressed his excitement. He acknowledged Newcastle’s history and the impressive stadium, eagerly anticipating playing there and creating memorable moments with the fans. Aladji will wear the number eight jersey for the club.
Having started his football journey at Blois in France, Aladji spent a decade in the club’s academy before moving to Monaco in 2021. He turned professional with Monaco in 2024 and made his senior debut the following year at the age of 19. Aladji has been part of the French Under-20 national team, winning the Maurice Revello tournament and progressing through various youth levels.
Newcastle’s head coach, Eddie Howe, praised Aladji as “another exciting, young signing” and expressed eagerness to work with him. Howe highlighted Aladji’s potential for growth and the qualities he brings to the team’s midfield. Aladji featured prominently in Monaco’s UEFA Champions League campaign last season, making 25 appearances across all competitions.
