The National Green Tribunal’s Central Zone Bench in Bhopal, led by Justice Sheo Kumar Singh and Prashant Gargava, has initiated action following a fatal explosion at an oxygen plant in Jaipur. The incident, which occurred in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area, resulted in the death of three individuals, including the factory manager and workers, and caused significant damage to the vicinity. The Tribunal has highlighted the environmental and safety concerns raised by the case, emphasizing the importance of adhering to statutory provisions under the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010.
Notices have been issued to relevant parties, including the State of Rajasthan, Rajasthan Pollution Control Board, and other key stakeholders, to submit their responses within six weeks. A Joint Committee, comprising members from various environmental bodies, has been formed to investigate the matter further. The Committee is tasked with conducting a thorough site visit and presenting a detailed report on the incident within the stipulated six-week period. The Rajasthan Pollution Control Board will play a pivotal role in coordinating and providing logistical support for the proceedings. The case is scheduled for a subsequent hearing on July 7, 2026.
