The National Investigation Agency (NIA) uncovered a significant amount of explosives, including 20 bags of ammonium nitrate and multiple detonators, in a raid in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. One suspect has been arrested in connection with the case, causing concern in the local area. Acting on specific intelligence, the NIA, with local police support, conducted the operation in Nalhati.

During the search, investigators found the cache of explosives and detained a suspect whose statements were inconsistent during initial questioning. The arrested individual’s identity has not been revealed yet. Authorities are interrogating him to determine the source of the explosives, their intended use, and where they were obtained from. The NIA is exploring whether the explosives were intended for commercial purposes or a larger sabotage plan.

Ammonium nitrate, a common ingredient in explosives, fertilizers, and construction, was found stored alongside detonators, raising suspicions of illicit activities. Security has been heightened in Nalhati and nearby areas following the discovery. The NIA is tight-lipped about further details to aid ongoing investigations. The arrested suspect is cooperating and has provided names, prompting a search for additional individuals involved.

The suspect will appear before the NIA’s special court, while authorities work to uncover the full extent of the network behind the recovered materials. Investigators anticipate more crucial information to emerge as the operation progresses.
