The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has pressed charges against two individuals, including Shehzad Bhatti, a Pakistani gangster, in connection with the grenade attack at YouTuber Roger Sandhu’s residence in Jalandhar, Punjab, last year. Shehzad is currently on the run, while the second accused, Dipander Pratap Singh @ Deepan Rana, has been apprehended in a separate case by the NIA.
Ten suspects have been arrested in the case so far, with seven, including Shehzad, evading arrest. Both Shehzad and Dipander have been accused under various laws such as the UA (P) Act, Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act, and BNS 2023, according to the NIA. The attack on Sandhu’s house in Jalandhar occurred on March 16, 2025, and investigations have revealed Shehzad’s involvement in orchestrating it from abroad as part of a broader terror scheme.
Shehzad coordinated the attack through encrypted communication, as per NIA’s findings, involving a network of terror cells engaged in targeted killings, recruitment, and smuggling of arms into India. Dipander, on the other hand, played a crucial role as a local facilitator for Shehzad, providing logistical assistance to the attackers and handling illegal weapons and explosives. The NIA is actively pursuing the absconding suspects and working to dismantle other terror networks associated with the attack.
