NITI Aayog announced a collaboration with UNICEF India to enhance healthcare interventions in Aspirational Districts and Blocks. The focus of this partnership is to improve maternal and child nutrition outcomes in areas lacking adequate services. By joining forces, both organizations aim to strengthen implementation systems for health and nutrition initiatives at the block level.
The agreement, signed by officials from NITI Aayog and UNICEF India, emphasizes the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement in addressing critical health challenges. Through this pact, efforts will be made to enhance last-mile service delivery in regions that require immediate attention. The Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme has highlighted the significance of collaboration and data-driven governance in achieving development goals.
UNICEF India’s platform, ‘IMPAct4Nutrition’ (I4N), will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise and fostering engagement with various stakeholders. This collaboration aims to mobilize corporate social responsibility (CSR) investments towards nutrition-focused projects. The partnership will specifically focus on improving Anganwadi infrastructure, enhancing nutrition literacy, and boosting the utilization of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).
In addition to strengthening frontline workers’ capacities, the partnership between NITI Aayog and UNICEF India will involve mobilizing CSR partners to support health and nutrition initiatives. It will also promote community involvement and establish knowledge-sharing platforms to identify and share effective practices across Aspirational Districts and Blocks.
Recently, NITI Aayog also inked a pact with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to promote sustainable development in Aspirational Districts and Blocks. The collaboration aims to enhance the ongoing efforts towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals through joint initiatives and strategic partnerships.
